"The Center at Spring Street has been an oasis of happiness and friendship. Originally, my husband and I thought of it as a place where I could take him where he would be safe, happy and secure while I went to the YMCA to exercise. However, we soon both realized there were many activities available to both of us. We enjoy the interaction of all the members. We have met so many wonderful new friends. We enjoy the volunteer work that we both have taken part in and the managerial staff has been great to both of us. Also, our cook does a good job of providing healthy and fairly diverse food." - S & JS
"The Center at Spring Street is not just a place to go and have a great lunch, it has also given me the opportunity to meet neighbors and residents from surrounding areas, that I may not have met. It has games, entertainment, and trips available. I enjoy it very much and my wife also enjoys it." - JN
"I have been a member of the Center at Spring Street for about 15 years. At first I was like so many of our new members and thought that I would not know anyone. Now I know everyone by face if not by name and they are my friends. It certainly makes my life worthwhile to be a member here. Being a widow is sometimes very lonely. The things that I have participated in since being a member include some line dancing lessons, exercise classes, games of different kinds day trips, overnight trips, movie times, craft classes, computer classes and volunteer opportunities." |
"Some of the things I have volunteered to do are: to be president of the membership, trip coordinator and planner with the help of others, and developed the scrapbook so others can see what we do at the Center. I helped to start the monthly Friday night dances and headed that committee for a number of years. I am on the membership committee and helped to get a list of the membership benefits both in the Center and in the community. I have used several of those benefits in the community myself. The amount saved may seem insignificant but every little bit helps in these hard times. Multi-Service is also a big help when we need it. The people who work here are wonderful and caring. The hardest part of being a member here is when we lose a member, either because of moving to a new place or because they pass away. We miss each one of them." - NK
