Q. What is The Center at Spring Street?
A. It is a gathering place for individuals age 55 and older. We are located at 200 West Spring Street, Boyertown, PA. The atmosphere here is energetic - it's a bustling place! People gather to socialize, participate in one of our many and ever-changing activities or programs ... enjoy lunch and entertainment.
Q. What are requirements for membership?
A. Members must be 55 years of age or older. Disabled individuals under the age of 55 may join by providing a letter from the Federal Government stating disability benefits.
Q. When is The Center open?
A. The Center is open from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. If it is necessary to close The Center due to inclement weather, the announcement will be made on Channel 69 News and The Center's answering machine.
Q. When are meals served at the Center?
A. A delicious lunch is served at noon Monday through Friday. Center Members are asked to sign up ahead of time for lunch in person or by telephone at least two business days in advance. To make reservations, call 610-367-2313.
Q. What is the charge for the meals?
A. There is a suggested $2.50 donation towards the cost of a meal.
Q. What types of programs and activities are offered at the Center?
A. We offer a variety of programs and activities - something of interest to everyone! The Center offerings include an incredible array of exercise and wellness classes, computer instruction, outdoor activities, bus trips, dances, dance instruction, guest speakers, choral opportunities, quilting, bowling and more!
Q. Does The Center provide transportation to and from The Center?
A. In most cases, yes. Depending on location and the day of the week, transportation is provided to individuals unable to drive themselves to The Center by the Multi-Service / Center at Spring Street bus. A 50 cent donation is suggested for the round trip. For more information, call 610-367-2313.
Q. Does the Center offer volunteer opportunities?
A. The daily operations of Boyertown Area Multi-Service and The Center are carried out in large part through volunteer efforts. There are opportunities to pack meals on wheels, serve on a committee, assist with coordinating a program, office work, assisting with mailings, work in the kitchen, or become an officer of membership. The opportunities are as varied as the people who volunteer. The agency employs a Volunteer Coordinator to assist with the coordination of all volunteer activities. A. Boyertown Area Multi-Service has provided resources and services to meet human and community needs in Southeastern Berks and Northern Montgomery Counties for over 40 years. With a 211 square mile service area, we provide such services as Case Management to individuals and families, Community Food Pantry food assistance, Meals on Wheels and office space for numerous partner agencies. The Center at Spring Street, a vibrant program of Boyertown Area Multi-Service, is for individuals 55+ offering many activities, services and programs, as well as a delicious lunch prepared on-site every weekday.
