Meet Preston...

In May 2018, Preston ran a food drive for the Boyertown Area Multi-Service as a school project. Onlookers were inspired as an 8-year-old taught an entire community a lesson on charity and caring for others.

Devastatingly, Preston, Pamela, and Preston’s unborn baby sister, Evelynn Rose, were lost in a tragic flash flood on July 11, 2019.

In memory of Preston and his selfless contribution to helping others, a local group of community volunteers came together to form “Preston’s Pantry Project”. Their goal was to involve community members and local businesses in an annual food drive to support Boyertown Area Multi-Service, and they did just that!

The 1st Annual Preston’s Pantry Project held in August 2019, brought in an astonishing 55,000+ pounds of donated pantry items! There were hundreds of individual donations, over 200 businesses serving as food collection sites, and 600+ volunteers who committed their time to help others in facing hunger in our community. A beautiful legacy for Preston, Pam, and baby Evelynn was created.

Preston’s Pantry exists to provide the local community with assistance in food to those who do not have the financial means to meet their nutritional needs. Please be aware we are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. We cannot guarantee food assistance to walk ins; We strive to meet the needs of each person we encounter. Anyone in need of food assistance who reside s in our service area (the Boyertown Area School District plus the townships of Hereford, District, Pike, Oley & Amity) is eligible for assistance from this program.

Our pantry is open Monday-Friday year-round, except for holidays. We meet with individuals and families by appointment each day to protect privacy and ensure confidentiality. By meeting with households one-on-one, our case managers are also able to make recommendations about other social services that may be helpful in meeting the specific needs of each household. In providing for their nutritional needs, we enable them to focus their energies on doing what they need to do to get their lives moving in a better direction.

Our growing pantry serves more than 300 households each month. We distribute nonperishable food items but bread and frozen meats are often included. Produce and eggs are added if available. Please let us know if you have any special items, you may need such as baby diapers, toiletries/ hygiene, or cleaning products. We try our best to accommodate any dietary restrictions related to allergies, diabetes, and other medical conditions.
Food comes in and goes out at a remarkable rate, so our needs sometimes change on a weekly basis. Please see our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/PrestonsPantry, for our most recent update.
