About Us
Who We Are
Boyertown Area Multi-Service is a social service agency dedicated to meeting needs and improving the lives of people in the Boyertown School District Area and surrounding communities of Amity, District, Hereford, Pike, Pottstown and Oley townships.
We are an independent non-profit and member organization of the Boyertown Area United Way and the United Way of Berks County. We are also funded by the Berks County Area Agency on Aging, Montgomery County Aging and Adult Services, as well as individual donors, and supported by the community of Boyertown and surrounding areas.
Our Mission
The mission of Boyertown Area Multi-Service, Inc. is to provide resources and services to meet unfulfilled human and community needs in the greater Boyertown area.
True to our motto, we are here to support this community, its people, and their health and financial needs.
Our History
1973
Founded
Founded in 1973
Founded in 1973 by Jo Guerre-Chanley, the initial goal of Boyertown Area Multi-Service Inc. was to provide social services of its own in addition to providing area residents with information and referral services to other social service agencies serving the Boyertown area.

The Center at Spring Street
The Senior Center
The Senior Neighborhood Center of Boyertown Area Multi-Service began in February of 1975 and is even more vital to the community today than it was then. Renamed "The Center at Spring Street" in 2004 to reflect it's pending new location, the Center continues to meet the changing needs of our older population.

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels was the first program we offered at the agency. With eight volunteers, Multi-Service began delivering hot meals to homebound elderly individuals. Today, more than 150 volunteers deliver over 13,000 meals annually and drive more than 100 square miles daily.
1995
Community Food Pantry
A Food Pantry
A community food pantry program followed. Designed to assist those experiencing financial difficulties, the Multi-Service pantry is operational daily by appointment. Donations to the food pantry come from churches, service organizations, schools, Girl/Boy Scout troops, local food markets, the U.S. Postal Service, and individual community members.

New Facility
New Facility
We launched a capital campaign in early 2005 for the express purpose of building a new facility that will better serve the ever-evolving needs of the people in our community. The building was completed in December 2005 and opened for business on January 9, 2006.
Testimonials
"The Center at Spring Street has been an oasis of happiness and friendship. Originally, my husband and I thought of it as a place where I could take him where he would be safe, happy and secure while I went to the YMCA to exercise. However, we soon both realized there were many activities available to both of us. We enjoy the interaction of all the members. We have met so many wonderful new friends. We enjoy the volunteer work that we both have taken part in and the managerial staff has been great to both of us. Also, our cook does a good job of providing healthy and fairly diverse food."

"The Center at Spring Street is not just a place to go and have a great lunch, it has also given me the opportunity to meet neighbors and residents from surrounding areas, that I may not have met. It has games, entertainment, and trips available. I enjoy it very much and my wife also enjoys it."

"Some of the things I have volunteered to do are: to be president of the membership, trip coordinator and planner with the help of others, and developed the scrapbook so others can see what we do at the Center. I helped to start the monthly Friday night dances and headed that committee for a number of years. I am on the membership committee and helped to get a list of the membership benefits both in the Center and in the community. I have used several of those benefits in the community myself. The amount saved may seem insignificant but every little bit helps in these hard times. Multi-Service is also a big help when we need it. The people who work here are wonderful and caring. The hardest part of being a member here is when we lose a member, either because of moving to a new place or because they pass away. We miss each one of them."
